Visual reports that keep the evidence visible

A visual report should make careful thinking easier to read. Use design to distinguish the finding, the evidence and the limits of what you know.

Give the reader a route through the evidence

A project update needs different emphasis from a research report. Start by naming the reader and the question the document must answer. A useful structure is an executive finding, the evidence behind it, the implications and the next decision.

Choose a document canvas for a reading experience or a presentation canvas for a discussion. Tessuvi lets you work with both; a dense report should not be treated as a deck with smaller text.

Match the visual to the evidence

QuestionUseful visual
How does one category compare?A bar or lollipop chart with the same units and scale.
What changed over time?A line chart with dates in the correct order.
What makes up a total?A pie or donut when the categories really are parts of the same whole.
What needs a decision?A comparison table with the trade-offs written beside the options.
What do we know, and from where? An evidence ledger that pairs a claim with its source and limitations.

Separate a design improvement from a factual change

Use a focused editing mode when you want to adjust copy or design without changing the entire document. Select the relevant page for a local revision, then inspect the resulting version before sharing it.

Chart and table examples are demonstration data. Replace them, label units and time periods, and confirm that categories remain comparable. A polished chart with an unsupported number is still unsupported.

  • Use descriptive headings that make sense when read as a list.
  • Keep sources near the claims they support.
  • Split an overcrowded table instead of shrinking it past a comfortable reading size.
  • Explain uncertainty and missing data in the report itself.

Make the hand-off part of the work

Publish a snapshot when you want readers to see a deliberate version. Update that publication after making changes you want them to receive. Use PDF for a stable reading copy and keep the editable project for future reporting cycles.

Before sending the file, check page order, image crops, tables and long headings in the exported result. When a report includes a CV or personal details, choose recipients and link permissions deliberately.
